Details of the tragedy with tourists in Kamchatka have become known

Lisa Esherkina, the leader of a group of tourists who got lost in Kamchatka, left the group with her boyfriend, leaving them without means of communication and a tent. A source told Izvestia about this on April 10.

According to him, the girl offered to change the route to a more difficult one than the one that was originally planned, but the group refused.

"The leader separated from the group with her boyfriend, left all the other guys, took the walkie-talkie and the burner with her, and they went further along the route. But this route, it was originally not of the complexity category that they had planned. <...> And she has separated from them," the source said.

The source added that the lack of communication among tourists has become critical. He is convinced that if the travelers had a connection, the deaths would not have happened.

The loss of the tour group became known the day before. According to the head of the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Sergey Lebedev, the tourists quarreled and split up, after which the group of seven people stopped contacting. On April 10, the press service of the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that a Mi-8 helicopter of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations was involved in the search. Rescuers examined the possible route of the group from different sides.

On the same day, the government of the Kamchatka Territory announced that five of the seven tourists missing in Kamchatka had been found alive, and two had died. Later, the helicopter with the injured tourists landed on the closed site of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The injured tourists are in a moderate condition.
