About 400 thousand gas stoves have been checked in Moscow since the beginning of the year.

In the first quarter of 2026, specialists from the Moscow urban economy complex checked about 400,000 gas stoves in apartments. This was announced on Wednesday, April 8, by the Deputy Mayor of the capital for Housing and Communal Services and landscaping, Peter Biryukov.

According to him, gas safety is under special control: scheduled maintenance of the entire gasified housing stock is carried out annually, and from January to March, more than 22% of the total stoves were checked. He noted that minor malfunctions are fixed on the spot, and in case of serious violations, specialists eliminate the threat and make recommendations for repairs, the Moscow City News agency reports.

Biryukov added that more than 1.8 million families in the capital use gas stoves, so regular inspection is extremely important. At the same time, the responsibility for the serviceability and replacement of equipment lies with the owners or tenants of the housing.

He recalled that the average service life of the plate is 10-12 years, after which it must be changed. Also, a mandatory element is the "gas control" system, which cuts off the gas supply when the flame is extinguished.

According to him, information about inspections is posted in advance on the Mosgaz website, as well as on stands in entrances and courtyards, writes Moscow 24.
