Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations (UN) Vasily Nebenzia addressed his American counterpart Mike Waltz on April 7 and said that the representative of the United States would not hear the apologies of the Russian side for vetoing the draft resolution on the Strait of Hormuz.

"Mr. Ambassador, you will not hear any apologies from us," the Russian permanent representative said.

On April 7, Russia and China vetoed a draft UN Security Council resolution on the Strait of Hormuz. The draft resolution called on States to coordinate defense "commensurate with the circumstances" to ensure the passage of ships, which meant escorting civilian ships and deterring attempts to close or block the strait.
