- The Chechen Republic of Ichkeria has been recognized as a terrorist organization in the Russian Federation
On April 7, the so-called Chechen Republic of Ichkeria was officially recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia. From that day on, any activity related to this organization will be completely banned: the dissemination of its ideas, the use of symbols and the provision of any assistance to supporters of the association.
The decision applies, among other things, to 14 representative offices of the organization operating abroad. Among them is the headquarters of Akhmed Zakayev in London, who calls himself the Prime Minister of Ichkeria. In Russia, Zakayev was sentenced in absentia to 20 years in prison. According to reports, he acts as the coordinator of a militant sabotage network, receiving support from foreign intelligence services.
"He is in fact their agent. The state, represented by MI-6, covers its activities, that is, MI-6 covers the activities of a terrorist organization and unequivocally encourages it," said Andrei Popov, a member of the Association of Veterans of the Alpha Antiterrorism Group.
Currently, under the leadership of Zakayev, the so-called "Separate Battalion of the Armed Forces of the Chechen Republic" is operating as part of the Foreign Legion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This mercenary group actively supports the Kiev regime. In addition, the Verkhovna Rada recognized Ichkeria as a "temporarily occupied territory." Negotiations are underway in Kiev to open an official representative office, which will give the terrorists diplomatic status.
"Ukraine has become a terrorist state, and it is difficult to call it a state. This is a territory under external control, terrorist organizations that act in conjunction with the instructions of their sponsors, curators," said political analyst Alexander Dudchak.
After the "Chechen Republic of Ichkeria" is added to the list of terrorist organizations, any format of support for this structure qualifies as aiding terrorism. According to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the maximum penalty under the relevant articles provides for life imprisonment.
Earlier, on December 8, 2025, the Supreme Court recognized the Polish organization "Congress of People's Deputies" (Kongres Deputowanych Ludowych, KDL, included in the list of undesirable organizations) as a terrorist organization and banned it in Russia. The hearing on the case was held behind closed doors.
