- Sadovnichy spoke about the education of the elite of other countries in foreign branches of Moscow State University
Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) trains the elite of other countries in its foreign branches. Viktor Sadovnichy, rector of the university, told Izvestia about this on April 3.
According to him, MSU currently has branches in six foreign countries: Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and China.
"We have several branches in six foreign countries. There are only a few thousand students in these branches. These are the elite of those countries, and they are very grateful to us that we maintain the highest level of education in these countries," Sadovnichy said.
The Rector stressed that the Chinese side had been attentive to the potential of Moscow State University and in two years had built the same complex, which had become one of the leading universities in China. Sadovnichy stressed that the branch in this country is reaching 5,000 students this year.
"Yes, many other countries want to cooperate with us. Sometimes it's difficult, understandable, and sometimes it works. So I am in favor of science and education being free from any pressure. This is the future of our planet," he concluded.
On the same day, the Gardener turned 87 years old. In a telephone conversation, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the rector of Moscow State University on his birthday, wishing him good health and new successes in scientific and educational activities. Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova joined in the congratulations, noting the scientist's contribution to the development of Russian education.
