In the Herat province of Afghanistan, local authorities have tightened the dress code for women. This was reported on April 2 by the Afghan radio station Salaam Watandar.

It is noted that the new rules are dictated by Sharia norms. Women are instructed to wear inconspicuous clothes that will not hug the body.

"The main criterion is loose, non-body-hugging and inconspicuous clothing that does not attract the attention of other people. Wearing tight clothes is contrary to the principles of the Sharia hijab. <...> This process will be promoted through education and peaceful interaction," RIA Novosti quotes.
