Toyota and Land Rover have registered trademarks in Russia
Toyota and Jaguar Land Rover have registered trademarks in Russia. The Japanese automaker has patented its logo, and the British brand has defended the rights to the Defender SUV's Cyrillic name. The information reviewed by Izvestia has been published in the database of the Federal Institute of Industrial Property (FIPS).
Both trademarks were registered by the state on April 1, 2026. The exclusive right to them will expire in the spring of 2034. Both Toyota and Land Rover applied for registration of these trademarks back in 2024. Both signs are included in the 12th class of the International Classification of Goods and Services (ICTS), which includes cars.
Trademark registration does not mean that companies are going to resume business in Russia. They protect the rights to them in order to limit the use by third parties. So, in March of this year, she registered a trademark in Russia with the name of the popular Corolla model.
Earlier, on March 12, it was reported that the Lada Tigris trademark had passed state registration in Russia. It is possible that in the future this name may be used for a new Lada model. The application for registration of the Lada Tigris trademark was submitted to Rospatent in early 2025, along with Lada Parus, Lada Ariva, Lada Yarus and Lada Yashma.
