The Houthis threatened to block the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait and raise the price of oil.
The Yemeni Ansar Allah movement (Houthis) has threatened to block the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, which separates the Arabian Peninsula from Africa, and thus raise oil prices to $200 per barrel. This was announced on March 30 by the Information Minister in the Houthi government, Mohammed Mansour.
"Europe must also understand that if it continues to show hostility to the Axis of Resistance, we will make the price of oil rise to $200 per barrel, which will strangle the European economy," he said in an interview with the Italian portal InsideOver.
Mansour added that the Houthis could block all sea routes leading to Suez. He stated that they have unlimited stocks of missiles. In addition, he added that no one from other countries will be able to cross the strait without their permission.
Yahya Saria, the official representative of the armed forces of the movement, announced on March 28 that Israel had been attacked with cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).Saria added that the operation targeted a number of vital and military installations in southern Palestine.
The Houthis said earlier in the day that they were ready to enter into a military conflict on the side of Iran if one of the three conditions was met. The first is the entry of third parties on the side of the United States and Israel, the second is the launching of attacks on Iran by countries in the Red Sea, and the third is an excessive escalation of the conflict.
