The EC told about the impossibility of Ukraine joining the EU by January 2027
Ukraine will not be able to join the European Union (EU) by January 2027. This was announced on March 24 by the European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos.
"I think all the people in this room understand that it is impossible for Ukraine to become a member of the EU on January 1, 2027," she said at the Competitive Europe summit organized by Politico newspaper.
Kos also stated that Kyiv is a key partner of the EU in the fields of innovation, defense and other strategic sectors that can contribute to the development of global competitiveness. However, according to her, Ukraine's accession to the EU should not be expected within the next year.
Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjarto said on March 22 that if the Hungarian opposition party Tisa comes to power, Ukraine will be allowed into the European Union (EU), and Hungary will be drawn into the conflict.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on the same day that the main topic for Europeans now was not Ukraine, but the issue of paying bills for gas and electricity. He noted that Europe still wants the conflict in Ukraine to continue, but does not know how to pay for it.
