A large fragment of an Iranian rocket landed near the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.
A large fragment of a downed Iranian missile fell on the territory of the Old City in Jerusalem. Footage from the scene of the March 21 events is published by Izvestia.
According to Izvestia correspondent Alexander Novitsky, an impressive-sized fragment landed just 350-400 m from the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount.
Given the dense historical buildings of the Old City, which covers an area of less than 1 square kilometer, the fall of the wreckage occurred in the immediate vicinity of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
Izvestia reported on March 17 that other rocket fragments had hit religious shrines in Jerusalem. Local authorities were removing rocket fragments from the roofs of the Old City. One of the fragments fell on the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the other on the territory of the Temple Mount near the Esplanade of mosques. The Church of the Holy Sepulchre is closed to pilgrims.
