According to the results of the first two months of 2026, 4,491 new Changan cars were registered in Russia. Compared to January-February of last year (9505 units), this figure fell by 53%, Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, noted in his Telegram channel on March 18.

As a result, the share of the Changan brand in the Russian market decreased to 2.8%, but a year earlier it was 5.7%.

Tselikov pointed out that in 2025, Changan cars also sold significantly worse than the market. In total, 66.2 thousand passenger cars of this brand were sold last year, which is 38% less than in 202. At the same time, the entire Russian car market declined by only 15.6%.

"The main reason for the rapid decline in interest in Changan cars lies in pricing and marketing policies. Without the Russian assembly and the powerful support of the manufacturer, it is impossible to keep prices down and make good loan offers now," the analyst said.

Earlier, on March 11, it was reported that the production of the Changan CS35 Max crossover could be launched in Russia. This was announced by representatives of the brand's Russian office at the presentation of the model. One of the possible sites is the Kaliningrad Avtotor plant. The Changan CS35 Max has a 1.5-liter turbo engine with 147 hp (280 Nm) combined with a seven-speed "robot", front-wheel drive.

In Russia, the Kaliningrad Avtotor plant has already started assembling cars of the Chinese Deepal brand, which is part of the Changan concern. As it became known on January 30, the company has already launched the production of the G318 crossover with an angular body design.
