The Council of the European Union (EU) has extended sanctions against Belarus for another year. This is reported in the resolution of the association published on February 26.

"The Council has decided that the restrictive measures outlined in it should be extended until February 28, 2027," the publication says.

On February 23, the EU failed to reach an agreement on the 20th package of sanctions against Russia. It is clarified that this is the first time since the beginning of the special military operation (SVO), when the EU was unable to agree on a new package of sanctions against Russia before February 24.

On the same day, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjarto said that the country had blocked the 20th package of sanctions against Russia and the allocation of a loan to Ukraine worth €90 billion due to Kiev's shutdown of the Druzhba oil pipeline.
