Sobyanin summed up the development of railway transport in Moscow in 2025
A lot of work was done in Moscow last year to develop railway transport, said the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin.
In particular, the construction and reconstruction of the city's railway stations — Shcherbinka MCD-2, Kurskaya MCD-2/MCD-4, Petrovsko-Razumovskaya MCD-1 - has been completed.
In addition, the renovation of the IDC rolling stock was completed in 2025. "The average age of wagons has decreased fivefold, and the share of new trains has increased 20-fold. There has never been such a pace of renewal of the commuter train fleet in any megacity in the world," the mayor wrote in his channel in the MAX.
Work has also begun on replacing old trains with new ones in the busiest direction, Yaroslavsky. More than 300,000 trips are made there every day during the working week.
The mayor also spoke about the plans for the current year. In particular, it is planned to complete the large—scale modernization of Leningradsky railway Station, continue the formation of new transfer hubs and the creation of comfortable city stations - Moscow City, Sickle and Hammer, Begovaya, Tsaritsyno, Zheleznodorozhnaya.
Today, the network of four IDCs includes 138 stations. Since its opening, over 1.6 billion trips have been made on the Moscow Central Diameters. Passenger traffic has increased by 34% since 2019. The train travel interval ranges from five to seven minutes during rush hours. The average duration of a trip along the IDC is 36 minutes.
