A farewell ceremony for Senior police Lieutenant Denis Bratushchenko took place in Moscow on the territory of the Department of Internal Affairs for the North-Eastern Administrative District. Footage of the ceremony on February 26 is published by Izvestia.

The event was attended by relatives, colleagues and acquaintances of Bratushchenko and representatives of the executive authorities. Wreaths were also sent by the Moscow government, the Moscow Interior Ministry and the State Traffic Inspectorate, and the Moscow police department. The footage shows police officers, colleagues and the family of the deceased laying flowers at the coffin of an employee.

Mikhail Chernikov, the head of the State Traffic Inspectorate, stressed that Bratushchenko was a "real policeman" who always stood at the forefront and met criminals first. He noted that Bratushchenko saved many people, including colleagues, at the cost of his life.

"Several thousand people came to say goodbye to the law enforcement officer who stopped the criminal at the cost of his life. After the funeral ceremony, Denis Bratushchenko will be buried with military honors," the press service of the Moscow police wrote in the IACH.

Bratushchenko was 34 years old. He has served in the Metropolitan Police since March 2019. He is survived by his wife and two minor children.

Two people were also killed and two others were injured due to the detonation of an explosive device.

At the same time, the car bomber died at the scene, his self-detonation was the cause of the accident with the traffic police car. After that, the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Irina Volk, said that the families of the deceased in the car explosion in the capital, as well as the victims, would receive the necessary assistance.
