Yuri Varakin, Adviser to the director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, told what kind of weather is expected in Moscow and the Moscow region until the beginning of March.
In an interview with Radio 1 on Wednesday, February 25, he said that the intensity of precipitation is decreasing. According to him, record snow cover heights have been recorded in the last two days, and no significant precipitation is expected on February 26 and 27, but heavy ice will remain. At night in Moscow, the temperature can drop to -8 degrees, in the region — up to -11 degrees.
The expert noted that on February 28, the situation will change: an Atlantic cyclone with sleet and rain will arrive in the capital region. The temperature in Moscow will rise to +3 degrees, in the region it will be from -1 to +4 degrees, the south-westerly wind will increase and ice will remain.
The forecaster added that no sharp cold snap is expected in early March — until March 6, the temperature will remain 2-3 degrees above the climatic norm.
