The opening ceremony of the international naval exercise MILAN-2026 was held in the Indian port of Visakhapatnam. Footage of the event on February 20 was provided by the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
As part of the event, a walking parade of the crews of the vessels participating in the exercise took place.
The frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov of the Pacific Fleet, which arrived at the exercises last day, will participate in the coastal stage of the exercise, and then from February 21 to 24 will conduct artillery firing at targets as part of the naval stage.
Russian sailors will participate in training sessions on screening ships threatening the safety of navigation, rescuing drowning people, as well as air defense and antisubmarine defense along with ships that arrived for the exercises from other countries.
The exercises are organized every two years by the Indian Navy. This year, the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral of the Fleet Alexander Moiseev, arrived at the events from Russia as the head of the delegation.
On November 18, the Russian Navy and the Myanmar Navy conducted joint exercises Marumex-2025 in the Andaman Sea. From Russia, the frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov, the corvette Gremyashchy and the tanker Boris Butoma were present — all of them belong to the detachment of ships of the Pacific Fleet.
