Russians will be warned about the risk of addiction in gambling advertising. This was stated on February 19 by Nina Gukasova, Candidate of Economics, Director of the program of the Federal Methodological Center for Improving Literacy at the Presidential Academy (RANEPA).
The law, which aims to combat gambling addiction, was approved by the Federation Council and will enter into force on September 1. According to him, bookmakers, sweepstakes and casinos will be required to warn customers about the risk of developing ludomania.
"The main task is to reduce the impact of impulsive decisions. Gambling advertising is traditionally based on creating an image of easy money. New amendments... They are strengthening the requirements for warnings about risks," said Gukasova in an interview with TASS.
Now, any advertising related to gambling and betting must be accompanied by information about the consequences of gambling addiction. Warnings should be allocated at least 7% of the frame area in television videos, at least three seconds on the radio, and at least 10% of the image area in print and outdoor advertising.
"The wording explicitly states: 'Participation in gambling does not guarantee winning and may lead to loss of funds and harm life and health,'" the expert informed.
In addition to such a warning, organizations related to gambling and betting will be required to provide information on ways to save and increase finances, for example, investments.
"Thus, a person is offered a choice between a bet and more rational ways of disposing of money," concluded Gukasova.
On January 29, Sergey Katyrin, head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, pointed out the need to provide for the possibility of self-restrictions on the amount of bets and playing time in an online casino in the event of its legalization.
