On February 18, fans hung the Russian flag at the quarterfinal match of the 2026 Winter Olympic Games hockey tournament in Milan. The incident occurred during a meeting of the national teams of Canada and the Czech Republic.

A Russian canvas with the inscription "Zelenograd" was placed on the stands next to the Canadian symbols.

The flag was hung by a fan wearing a Spartak Moscow game jersey. A few minutes later, a steward approached the man and asked him to remove the tricolor.

At the time of the incident, the first period ended in the match, following which the Czech national team led 2-1.

Canadian national team forward Tom Wilson said that he misses Washington teammate Alexander Ovechkin and other Russian hockey players at the Milan Olympics. The Canadian noted that NHL players are competing at the Olympics for the first time since 2014, but the Russian national team, according to the decision of the International Ice Hockey Federation, is not participating in the tournament.
