The prosecutor's office has requested 14 years for the person involved in the 27-year-old murder case.

The state prosecution has requested 14 years in prison for Denis Gagin, who is accused of murder committed in the capital more than a quarter of a century ago. This was reported on February 19 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the Zyuzinsky District Court of Moscow.

According to investigators, Gagin and other defendants, while intoxicated, committed a robbery on Chongarsky Boulevard in Moscow and killed a stranger.

The man pleaded not guilty. According to him, the witness statements contradict each other, and he himself has long expressed his willingness to undergo any examination, including a polygraph and a DNA test.

The defense pointed out many discrepancies in the case file. So, the alleged murder weapon, the bottle, was not fingerprinted, and the only witness, an elderly woman, stated that she had heard the voices of two adult men at the time of the crime, although Gagin was a minor at the time.

In addition, the lawyer reported numerous violations. The results of the examination conducted in 1999 indicated that the man's death occurred as a result of alcohol poisoning, and the burns on his body could have been accidental.

Also, confusion with the identity of the deceased is not excluded: there is a possibility that the examination was conducted in relation to a homeless person, and a person of a different social status appears in the case. The defense demanded Gagin's acquittal due to inconsistencies in the case and the expiration of the statute of limitations.

In December 2024, the Zyuzinsky District Court of Moscow chose a preventive measure for the murder of Gagin. The man is charged with a crime under paragraphs "g", "h", Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Murder in order to conceal another crime or facilitate its commission"). According to investigators, he and other intruders, including a minor, in collusion, killed a man on Chongarsky Boulevard of the capital.
