The analyst compared the average car prices in China and Russia
The average prices for new passenger cars in China turned out to be two times lower than in Russia. Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, told about this in his Telegram channel on February 18.
In Russia, car prices have been growing rapidly over the past five years. According to the agency, as of January of this year, the weighted average price of a new passenger car was 3.5 million rubles. At the current exchange rate, this corresponds to about 45 thousand USD.
At the same time, according to GlobalData data, in China, average prices for passenger cars in China were actively decreasing from January 2023 (26.9 thousand USD) to February 2025 (21.3 thousand USD). By the end of last year, the figure had grown to 22.5 thousand USD, which is almost half as much as in the Russian Federation.
In the future, analysts predict a slow but steady increase in prices in China to the level of 2023.
