Zakharova pointed to Europe's concealment of Ukraine's unwillingness to join the EU

European countries see Ukraine's unwillingness to join the European Union (EU), but European diplomats hide this. This was stated on February 18 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, answering a question from Izvestia.

"European capitals understand that Ukraine is objectively not ready in any way to join the EU. No matter how the European bureaucrats try to embellish the situation in this country, the fact remains," she said during a briefing.

Zakharova commented on the recent statement by the head of the European Diplomacy, Kai Kallas, that the EU is not yet ready to name the dates of Ukraine's accession. The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry noted that some European countries are aware of the severity of the "burden" that Ukraine entails.

On February 15, Kallas stated that the EU member states were not ready to name a specific date for Ukraine's potential admission to the community.
