- Ex-director of a canteen in the Urals convicted of embezzlement of 80 million rubles
In Yekaterinburg, the former head of the EMUP Canteen No. 41 was found guilty of embezzling more than 80 million rubles, which were allocated for catering for schoolchildren. The case was considered in a special order, as the accused had entered into a pre-trial cooperation agreement.
The court found that Nadezhda Aristova, as part of an organized group, provided food supplies to the EMUP from January 2022 to December 2023, which were supported by fictitious documents. And in school canteens, in fact, products were used in volumes that were significantly less than the established standards, writes <url> news agency with reference to the joint press service of the courts of the Sverdlovsk region.
As a result of the criminal scheme, more than 80 million rubles were stolen from the city budget, which were allocated for catering in educational institutions.
The defendants reimbursed the damage caused to the budget during the preliminary investigation. The court took this circumstance into account when imposing the punishment, as well as the pre-trial cooperation agreement.
As a result, Aristova was found guilty under the article "Fraud on an especially large scale committed by an organized group" and sentenced to 3.5 years in prison, suspended with a probation period of three years. She must also pay a fine of 150,000 rubles.
Earlier, on February 16, it was reported that retired Rear Admiral Nikolai Kovalenko, accused of embezzling 592 million rubles from the funds of the Russian Ministry of Defense, was sentenced to four years and six months in a penal colony and released due to illness. The court also sentenced other defendants in the case of embezzlement of funds allocated for state contracts for the repair of spare parts for anti-aircraft missile systems.
