- The Federation Council approved a law on additional vacations for veterans of their military and those who served in Syria
On February 18, the Federation Council (SF), at a plenary session broadcast on the website of the upper house of parliament, approved a law on granting annual leave without pay for up to 35 days to veterans of military operations in the special military operation zone in Ukraine, as well as in Syria and Afghanistan.
"The draft federal law On Amendments to Article 3 of the Federal Law On Veterans (hereinafter referred to as the bill) has been prepared in order to clarify the territories and the period for ensuring the fulfillment of tasks during a special military operation," says an explanatory note published on the State Duma website.
The document emphasizes that the draft law complies with international treaties of Russia, does not contain requirements related to entrepreneurial activity, and will not entail negative socio-economic consequences.
On the eve of the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev said that the unified system of social support for special military operation (SVO) fighters and their family members created in Russia is unprecedented for the country. According to him, since 2022, 154 special laws have been adopted on the participants of the special operation.
On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin demanded that special attention be paid to the families of military personnel participating in their military operations, and the relevant work should be systematic. The head of state stated this during a meeting with the head of the Republic of Ingushetia, Mahmud Kalimatov.
