The most long-awaited gift for February 23 has been named
The ideas of men and women about what a gift should be for Defender of the Fatherland Day differ significantly. Thus, 40% of respondents are going to give a symbolic gift, while representatives of the stronger sex dream of receiving useful gifts as a present — tools (50%), equipment (36%) and gift certificates (29%). This is evidenced by data from a study by experts of the HYUNDAI brand, which was reviewed by Izvestia on February 19.
The approach to congratulations on Defender of the Fatherland Day differs markedly among Russians. So, for many women (52%), this day is an occasion to congratulate all men without exception. However, only 33% of men expect congratulations from colleagues, family members and others, even unfamiliar women.
When choosing gifts, Russians primarily pay attention to practicality, but ideas about suitable gifts differ. So, socks, shower gel and shaving foam seem appropriate to 36% of men. At the same time, 45% of women are going to give just such gifts. Car accessories are also more often chosen by customers as a gift than by the recipients themselves: 53% versus 22%.
Gadgets and electronics are considered a suitable gift by 28% of the stronger sex, and 37% of the respondents are ready to give such a gift. About a third of the survey participants are going to prepare their own dinner as a gift, and 29% of men would be happy with such a surprise. Perfume turned out to be one of the few gifts that men would like to receive and women are ready to give — 36 and 35%, respectively.
The approach to choosing gifts is gradually changing. Many remain faithful to the classics: 34% of men still consider traditional gifts relevant, and another 32% of respondents are more likely to choose practical options.
Among functional gifts, men are most often waiting for gadgets and electronics, but women often choose such options even more actively than the recipients themselves expect them. For example, 36% of men would like to receive smartphones and accessories, while 52% of women consider this option. A similar situation is observed with personal care equipment: electric shavers and trimmers are a welcome gift for 36% of survey participants, while 62% of respondents consider this gift.
Smart devices for the home attract 30% of the men surveyed. Sports gadgets are less in demand: fitness bracelets and smart watches were noted by 29% and 38% of Russians.
"Men's views on gifts by February 23 often do not coincide with women's views. Women focus on universal and practical things, while men are more likely to expect gifts related to their hobbies and technology. Today, the electronics market offers dozens of options for different life scenarios, from smart home devices to sports, work, and hobby equipment. When choosing a gift, it is important to start not from universal patterns, but from the interests of a man, which gadgets he already uses and which categories he talks about in everyday life. This approach allows you to choose a really useful and long—term gift," said Alexander Galkin, Product Director of the HYUNDAI brand.
In addition, the majority of men (57%) said they would welcome any gift for the holiday. Representatives of the stronger sex are more likely to expect gadgets and things for hobbies (36%). Tools and sports equipment also remain popular. Despite the trend towards personalization, most Russians are loyal to classic "on-duty" gifts if they are useful. This point of view is shared by 64% of men.
Experts emphasize that the usual gifts are gradually fading into the background. Increasingly, men are not getting standard sets (socks, deodorants), but more personal and thoughtful items that reflect their interests and lifestyle.
On February 17, a representative of the Krasnodar regional branch of the Russian Bar Association, Valentina Korsunova, said that fraudsters had stepped up schemes to steal money and personal data of Russians on the eve of Defender of the Fatherland Day. According to her, the attackers are taking advantage of the growth of online shopping and are creating fake online stores and fake discount offers.
