Russian figure skater Adelia Petrosyan will compete at the Olympic Games in Italy on February 19 at 21:00 Moscow time. According to the results of the short program, the figure skater took fifth place and scored 72.89 points.
The free skate program will be a key one for Petrosyan: the figure skater is known for her high level of technical difficulty and stable performance of ultra-c elements, including quadruple jumps and triple axel.
On Wednesday, January 17, the figure skater took to the ice to a standing ovation from the stands and presented to the audience an already beloved program set to Michael Jackson's compositions — Earth Song, Billie Jean and They Don't Care About Us.
Even during the training and warm-up, it became clear that the athlete was betting on the purity of the performance: there were no elements of ultra-si in the application. The chosen tactic has fully justified itself. Petrosyan performed flawlessly with the jumping content, and all other elements of the program were rated by the judges with the fourth level of difficulty.
Adelia Petrosyan was born on June 5, 2007 in Moscow. She wanted to start skating at the age of two, but she was brought to figure skating classes only at the age of four. From the very first training sessions, her mentors noted her rare perseverance and inner concentration.
Under the guidance of Irina Strakhovaya, the athlete has formed a solid technical foundation and confidently learned the entire set of triple jumps.
In 2019, Petrosyan was selected for the Eteri Tutberidze group, where she adapted step by step to the strict schedule and high demands. The following season, she began to regularly climb the podium of the Russian Cup and junior competitions.
Over time, the figure skater expanded the arsenal of ultra-si elements: a quadruple sheepskin coat, two quadruple rittbergers for hire and a triple axel appeared in her programs. In the period from 2023 to 2025, Petrosyan won the Russian championship three times, became the winner of the finals of the Russian Grand Prix and the national jumping championship, and also successfully passed the Olympic selection, winning the right to compete at the 2026 Games in Milan.
