On February 17, Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei urged not to pre-empt the outcome of negotiations between Tehran and Washington on issues related to the Iranian nuclear program, noting that this was unwise.

Khamenei commented on Western proposals to discuss Iran's nuclear program. He noted that such initiatives are actually aimed at forcing Iran to renounce its terms.

"They offer to discuss our nuclear program, but in fact they want us to abandon it. If negotiations are to take place, then their outcome should not be predetermined. This is unwise," he added.

On the same day, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi called the talks with the United States in Geneva constructive. According to him, these developments will be taken into account in the upcoming negotiations, after which the parties "will move on to discussing the essence of a possible agreement."
