On Cadet Day, students of the seventh grades of the capital's schools took a solemn oath at the Victory Museum on Poklonnaya Gora. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin congratulated them and spoke on the MAX channel about the development of cadet education in the city.

"The main task of cadet classes is not military training, but the education of responsible, caring citizens who are ready to serve society and their city," Sobyanin said.

According to the head of the capital, more than 20 thousand people study in cadet classes, which opened in Moscow schools in 2014. A lot of attention is paid to the formation of leadership qualities, teamwork and studying the history of the country, said the mayor of Moscow.

Sobyanin recalled that more than 70 metropolitan schools bear the names of heroes of the Fatherland. In addition, there are more than 1.1 thousand museums in schools, where expositions about the exploits of the defenders of the Motherland, including the heroes of the SVR, are created.

Every year, Moscow cadets participate in the "The Bond of Generations will not be Broken" parade, keep a memorial vigil at Post No. 1 and other city patriotic events. Also, young people, under the guidance of mentors in military-patriotic clubs, participate in search expeditions and prepare for military sports competitions, Sobyanin noted.

Earlier, the mayor of Moscow said that more than 28 thousand children study in specialized cadet classes. They are brought up with an emphasis on erudition, physical development, service to the motherland and people, the mayor emphasized. According to him, many children participate in the activities of volunteer organizations.
