- The editor-in-chief of Die Weltwoche called Zelensky the biggest obstacle on the path to peace
Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky is the biggest obstacle to a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. Roger Keppel, editor-in-chief of the Swiss edition of Die Weltwoche, told Izvestia about this on February 17.
"No one forced Zelensky to pursue a policy based on linguistic discrimination against the Russian population living mainly in the east of the country," he said.
Keppel noted that each country is to some extent responsible for its own foreign policy towards its neighbors. He also called "complete nonsense" the claim that Russia allegedly intends to attack Europe and attack NATO countries. Keppel considers such statements to be a misinterpretation of what is happening in Ukraine due to the unwillingness to understand the reasons.
"Instead of analyzing the situation, horror stories are used, horrifying images <...> Are inflated with hysteria of fear, which has nothing to do with reality. The Russians are not interested in the territory and in the restoration of the USSR. The Russians just want to block, from their point of view, the aggressive advance of NATO," said the editor—in-chief of Die Weltwoche.
The leader of the French Patriots party, Florian Philippot, said on February 11 that US President Donald Trump wants to remove the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, from governing Ukraine.
