- The associate professor warned Russians about the danger of storing some photos on the phone
Not all photos that people keep on their phones are safe, especially for photos of documents such as a passport or SNILS. This was announced on February 14 by Meri Valishvili, Associate Professor of the Department of State and Municipal Finance at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics.
She noted that in the last two years, scammers have become interested not only in business correspondence or compromising photos, but also in people's documents. With passport or SNILS data, fraudsters can gain access to the portal of Public Services or get access to various paid services.
"You should not store selfies with your documents on mobile devices either, since many services use just such photos to confirm your identity during registration or authorization," she said in an interview with the Prime agency.
Valishvili also added that fraudsters can gain access to messengers or emails, so you shouldn't store photos of documents or bank cards there either.
