The Bank of Russia's proposal for more open discounts on marketplaces is more balanced than the ideas of the largest financial organizations. On February 11, Izvestia was informed by the press service of Wildberries & Russ.

As Vedomosti reported, the regulator proposes to create universal and transparent conditions under which any credit institutions will be able to offer their discounts to users on equal terms. Under this model, the buyer will be provided with a single product price, and additional offers from banks for cashback or discounts will be displayed in a pop-up window next to the price.

"The Bank of Russia's proposal to demonstrate a single price looks more balanced compared to drastic measures like a complete ban on discounts, which were promoted by the largest banks," Wildberries representatives said.

Representatives point out the danger of completely equalizing the terms of loyalty programs. In their opinion, such unification can undermine the economic logic of loyalty programs themselves, as discounts and cashbacks often depend on the specifics of the customer base and the strategy of a group of organizations.

"The Wildberries platform is already sufficiently open, with buyers and sellers gaining access to various payment systems, financial or infrastructure services from banks and other financial institutions. organizations that are not part of the RWB group," Wildberries representatives clarified.

On February 10, the FAS spoke out against equating marketplaces with offline retail. The Ministry of Industry and Trade proposed to oblige platforms to buy products from manufacturers. The FAS pointed out the difference between the functions of online and offline platforms.
