US President Donald Trump said that on February 4 he had a telephone conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping, during which the heads of state discussed trade, military issues, the conflict in Ukraine and the upcoming trip of the American leader to China.

"I just completed a great phone conversation with Chinese President Xi. It was a long and thorough conversation, during which many important topics were discussed, including trade, military service, and an April trip to China," Trump wrote on his Truth Social network.

The American president also called relations with China and his personal relations with the Chinese leader extremely good, and noted that it is important to keep them that way. He said that China intends to purchase oil, gas and additional agricultural products from the United States, including an increase in soybeans to 20 million tons this season, as well as supplies of aircraft engines.

Earlier on January 27, it was reported that some US allies are considering the possibility of establishing closer ties with China. The publication says that the US trading partners, disappointed by the unpredictable and pragmatic policy of the White House, are reviewing their relations with China.

According to The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), some allies of the United States, from Canada to Europe and South Korea, are considering the possibility of establishing relations with China. In particular, Canada is seeking to establish closer ties with China, and its Prime Minister Mark Carney visited Beijing earlier.
