Lada car sales in Belarus have almost quadrupled
By the end of January 2026, sales of Lada cars in Belarus decreased 3.6 times compared to January of the previous year. The Belarusian Automobile Association (BAA) announced this on February 4.
"Sales of Chinese—made passenger cars produced in the Russian Federation in the domestic market of the country have actually been stopped," the BAA stressed.
They noted that at the beginning of the year, the most significant decline in sales on the Belarusian car market was recorded in the segment of cars imported from the states of the Eurasian Economic Union. Such imports have historically been carried out only from the Russian Federation, it has decreased fourfold by January 2025. The share of the total market occupied by cars imported from Russia decreased from 38% to 15% over the year.
In total, 3,508 new cars were sold in Belarus over the past month (models of the top 15 leading brands have been calculated). This is 40% less than in January 2025. A drop in sales was recorded for all brands except those produced at the Belgee and Geely automobile plant, their market share in January amounted to 52.8% of total sales. Year-on-year, the total market share of local car manufacturers of passenger cars increased from 27% to 58%.
On this day, it was reported that by the end of January 2026, 80.6 thousand new passenger cars were sold in Russia, which is 9.5% less than in the same month of 2025. Seven models of domestic car brands entered the top 10 bestsellers of the Russian market in January 2026.
