The draft of the new Constitution of Kazakhstan does not include a clause on changing the borders of the republic. This was stated on February 3 by State Councilor Yerlan Karin, adding that the territorial integrity of the country will never be violated.

"This should be repeated, because some citizens express the opinion that the administrative and territorial integrity of the country may change, which in fact is false information and pure manipulation," TASS quoted him as saying.

The adviser pointed out that the inviolability of the territorial integrity of the state, as well as its borders, is enshrined in the beginning of the basic law of the country. At the same time, the sixth paragraph of the second article of the Constitution emphasizes that the territorial integrity of Kazakhstan is not subject to change. As Karin noted, this clause means that such an issue cannot be discussed even during a referendum.

On January 21, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced a large-scale political modernization of the republic's authorities. In the course of the reforms, it is planned to amend more than 40 articles of the basic law.

Prior to that, on January 5, Tokayev announced the appearance of "pseudo-historians" who blame other nations for the troubles of Kazakhstanis. The President of Kazakhstan stressed that society, striving for the future, must recognize its history for what it is and reject unfounded legends that harm its consciousness.
