For the first time in history, a temperature of 0 degrees was recorded in Cuba.

For the first time in the history of observations in Cuba, the air temperature dropped to 0 degrees — a record was recorded at the Indio Atuey weather station in the province of Matanzas. This was announced on February 3 on the official website of the National Institute of Meteorology of the country.

"At 4:00 a.m., the meteorological station in Indio Hathaway recorded a minimum temperature of 0.1 degrees. The temperature continued to decrease, and at 7:00 a.m. the thermometer registered a temperature of 0 degrees. This is a record minimum temperature for the country," the institute said.

The previous record was 0.6 degrees and was set on February 18, 1996.

It is noted that as a result of a noticeable decrease in temperature in Indio Hathaway, the presence of frost on the leaves of several crops of the season was noticeable.
