The Kremlin agrees with the opinion of FIFA President Gianni Infantino that Russia and other countries should not be excluded from competitions because of politics. This was announced on February 3 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

"Yes, we have seen these statements, we welcome them. Indeed, it's high time to think about it. There has never been a need to politicize sports, the idea of Olympism, or football," Peskov said.
