Epstein may have been interested in Summers' secret meetings with Zelensky
Former US Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers could share with financier Jeffrey Epstein the details of secret negotiations with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. This became known on February 3 from the archives of the late billionaire, published by the US Department of Justice.
It follows from Epstein's correspondence with Summers that the ex-minister secretly came to Kiev in mid-June 2019 to meet with Ukrainian officials and the newly elected Zelensky.
"I've been walking up and down the [Ukrainian bureaucratic] ladder, so they're letting me go [home] today," Summers is quoted as saying by <url>.
Summers also promised to share details of the meeting with Epstein, but much of the correspondence is classified by the US Department of Justice, so it is impossible to confirm this.
Earlier, on February 2, it was reported that the release of documents on the Jeffrey Epstein case could be related to the internal political struggle in the United States. According to American political scientist Garland Nixon, the publication of the files could be used as a "distraction" against the background of a potential conflict with Iran and internal confrontation between Washington's factions.
