The National Bank of Belarus has presented a new graphic sign of the Belarusian ruble. This was reported by BelTA on February 2.

"20 years ago, the graphic sign of the Belarusian ruble was chosen from two Latin letters — Br. We see that for some reason it did not take root, practically no one used it in calculations and publications. Therefore, it was decided to announce a competition," said Andrei Kartun, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the National Bank.

The winner was designer Vasily Shchebetun, whose work scored the maximum number of points during online voting and evaluation by the competition committee. He was awarded a certificate for 3,000 Belarusian rubles.

According to the publication, almost 2.7 thousand applications were received for the competition, and more than 22 thousand people took part in the final voting. The National Bank has developed a plan to popularize it and expects to see the symbol in stores and publications soon.

Earlier, on January 19, it was reported that the Central Bank of Russia plans to issue updated banknotes in denominations of 500, 50 and 10 rubles with a new design and improved protective elements in 2026-2028. It is noted that the renewal of banknotes is aimed at increasing their protection from counterfeiting and improving consumer qualities.
