A powerful Class X flare occurred on the Sun.
A new maximum class X flare has occurred on the Sun. This was announced on February 2 at the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Institute of Space Research (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
"There are signs of a large mass ejection in the new X flare," the organization's Telegram channel says.
It is specified that the outbreak peaked at 11:14 Moscow time and received a score of X1.65. According to the IKI RAS, there are signs of a large mass release in this outbreak.
According to scientists, all the plasma that was not ejected during the previous super explosion can be ejected into space this time. At the same time, the direction and power of the ejection are still unknown.
It is noted that the active center of the flare is located at an angle of about 25 degrees from the direction of the Earth, which means that the release may affect our planet.
On the same day, the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the IKI RAS reported that the rapid development of an active region in the Sun could lead to magnetic storms on Earth. According to experts, the active center on the surface of the Sun accumulates a significant amount of energy in the solar corona in a short time. As a result, the probability of powerful flares increases, which, while maintaining the current dynamics, can have an impact on the Earth's magnetosphere in the near future, they added.
