Vaccination against polio and measles will start in the Sakhalin Region in February. The relevant resolution was adopted in connection with the risk of morbidity of the population.

In 2025, almost 6.3 thousand residents of the Sakhalin Region were vaccinated against measles, including more than 4.4 thousand children. In some areas, the percentage of implementation of the vaccination plan turned out to be lower than the regional average, SakhalinMedia news agency writes. 17 cases of infection have been reported. This is 2.9 times more than in 2023.

Children aged one to six years who have not previously received the vaccine will be vaccinated against polio. A campaign will also be organized for children under the age of 15 who have entered the Sakhalin region from the DPR, LPR, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions, Ingushetia, Dagestan, the Chechen Republic and from countries that are not affected by polio.

Earlier, the State Duma announced plans to make vaccination against human papillomavirus free by 2027.
