Russian Russian Museum Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said in his messenger channel that more than 300,000 guests visited the exhibition "The Image of Moscow in Russian Art from the collection of the State Russian Museum" during the five months of its operation.
The exhibition was held in Pavilion No. 1 "Central" at VDNH. The exhibition consisted of 115 paintings dedicated to the Russian capital. Some of them were exhibited outside the halls of the Russian Museum for the first time. As part of the exhibition, visitors could attend sightseeing and thematic tours, as well as popular science lectures. A separate series of free events, including guided tours adapted for different ages, was prepared and conducted for schoolchildren, who made up about 40% of the exhibition's guests. In total, the exposition was visited by about 125 thousand school students.
Free admission has also been provided for elderly Muscovites since December 2025. In total, the exhibition was visited by about 10 thousand pensioners. Russian Russian Museum exhibition "The Image of Moscow in Russian Art from the collection of the State Russian Museum" became the winner of the tourist award "Guiding Star" in the special nomination "Moscow in Art: an exhibition about Moscow".
According to Sobyanin, the Moscow authorities will continue to develop Pavilion No. 1 Central at VDNH as a flagship museum site.
"In 2026, we plan to organize a number of other exciting inter-museum projects in the capital. For example, the exhibition "Old Beijing: Spring Festival" will open at the Moscow Museum, "Terracotta Warriors: Legacy of the First Emperor" at the State Historical Museum, and the II Moscow International Biennale "Art of the Future" at the Multimedia Art Museum," said Sobyanin.
