A powerful flare of the highest class X was recorded on the Sun on Monday night, February 2. This was reported in the press service of the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of the Institute of Space Research (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

"An X8.11 level flare [occurred] on the Sun," reads a message posted on the Telegram channel.
