Trump expressed hope for continued U.S. talks with Iran
On January 31, US President Donald Trump said that the United States hopes to continue negotiations with Iran and achieve a concrete result.
"Look, the plan is this: Iran is negotiating with us, and we will see if we can do something, otherwise we will see what happens. We have a large fleet heading there, larger than the one we had — and, in fact, still have — off the coast of Venezuela," Trump said in an interview with Fox News.
According to him, dialogue with Tehran is important to prevent further escalation and ensure stability in the region. Trump stressed that the United States is ready for diplomatic steps, provided that its interests are respected and possible agreements are monitored.
On January 28, the American leader threatened Iran with a more powerful strike than last year. He stressed that a "huge armada" is moving towards Iran, surpassing in scale the fleet previously sent by the United States to the shores of Venezuela. He added that the group is acting quickly, with "great power, enthusiasm and determination" and, if necessary, is ready to "carry out its mission rigidly and promptly."
