- An investigation has been launched in China against the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations
Investigations have been initiated against the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of China, Wang Xiangxi, on suspicion of violations. This was reported on January 31 by the CCTV TV channel, citing a message from the Central Commission for Disciplinary Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission.
"Wang Xiangxi, secretary of the party committee and Minister of Emergency Situations, is suspected of serious violations of discipline and the law," the publication says.
It is noted that he is currently under supervision while the investigation continues. As a rule, the phrase "violation of discipline and the law" refers to corruption.
On January 24, China also launched an investigation into two high—ranking representatives of the armed forces, Zhang Youxia and Liu Zhenli. Zhang Youxia was a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), while Liu Zhenli is a member of the CMC and Chief of Staff of the Joint Staff of the CMC.
