On January 29, US President Donald Trump announced Washington's decision to revoke the certification of all Canadian aircraft, including Bombardier Global Express, in response to Canada's refusal to certify American Gulfstream business jets.

"Due to Canada's unlawful, unlawful and persistent refusal to certify Gulfstream 500, 600, 700 and 800 jets, some of the greatest and most technologically advanced aircraft ever built, we hereby revoke the certification of Bombardier Global Express aircraft and all aircraft manufactured in Canada until until Gulfstream, a great American company, receives full certification," he wrote on Truth Social.

The President added that Canada is actually blocking the sale of Gulfstream aircraft in its market using the certification process. If the situation does not change, the United States will impose a 50% customs duty on all aircraft sold in the United States from Canada.

On January 26, Trump announced that he was raising South Korean tariffs to 25% because the South Korean Legislature had not accepted the terms of the trade agreement. He specified that duties will increase on cars, timber, pharmaceuticals and other goods.
