"The reservoir is receiving more water than it can hold, so we must remain vigilant," warned Mohamed Simo, chairman of the municipal council.

He urged citizens to immediately evacuate their homes and move to higher ground. Simo also said that local authorities have mobilized all available public infrastructure to prioritize the accommodation of vulnerable groups.
