Over the past day, 270 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 26 people were killed and 342 injured. 33 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to Izvestia on January 29 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

As a result of 90 accidents, 49 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 41 outside their area of operation, five pedestrians were killed, and 86 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 21 minor pedestrians, 13 of whom were injured while crossing the roadway in designated areas.

13 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which there were no fatalities, but 18 road users, including one child, required medical attention. Seven bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by drivers of other vehicles. Over the past day, 38 accidents involving minors have been registered on Russian roads, in which 44 young road users, including 21 passengers, were injured. There are no dead children.

In some regions of the country, temporary restrictions or traffic closures were introduced due to adverse weather conditions. Since yesterday, due to snow and strong winds, traffic for buses and trucks has been temporarily restricted in the Republic of Tatarstan on the federal highway R-239 "Kazan - Orenburg — Akbulak — border with the Republic of Kazakhstan" from 89 km to 249 km, as well as on 2 regional roads. In the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, due to the deterioration of weather conditions in the adjacent territory, traffic for trucks is temporarily restricted along the federal highway A-161 Vladikavkaz —Nizhny Lars — border with the Republic of Georgia in the direction of departure from the Russian Federation.

The State Traffic Inspectorate recommends that motorists, when planning long-distance trips, first familiarize themselves with the weather forecast and media information about possible overlap sites, outlining detours in advance. In winter, you should be extremely careful when driving: avoid sudden rash maneuvers and realignments on roads slippery with snow or ice, observe the interval and distance between vehicles, choose the speed of movement taking into account the actual weather conditions, the department reminds.

"In conditions of insufficient visibility, it is necessary to move with external lighting devices turned on, it is mandatory to use fog lights, if available, and during precipitation, reduce speed as much as possible and move with the alarm lights on," said Police Colonel Sergei Hrantskevich of the Department of Road Safety Propaganda and Prevention of child traffic injuries of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

He noted that in case of deterioration of the weather, the right decision would be to temporarily refrain from using personal vehicles by switching to public ones, thereby freeing up the streets for snow removal equipment.

On January 27, the State Duma rejected a bill that proposed allowing citizens to park their cars for free in paid parking lots adjacent to social infrastructure facilities. According to the idea of the authors of the bill, citizens should be provided with 30-minute free use of paid parking located at a distance of no more than 100 m from social infrastructure facilities.
