On January 28, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico called a Politico newspaper article a lie that after meeting with US President Donald Trump at the Mar-o-Lago estate, he told European leaders that he was shocked by the mental and psychological state of the head of the White House.

"I strongly reject the lies of the hateful pro-Brussels liberal Politico portal," Fico wrote on his Facebook page (owned by the extremist Meta company recognized in Russia, its activities are banned in the Russian Federation).

According to Fico, he did not speak at the European Union (EU) summit in Brussels and also did not discuss his visit to the United States with any prime minister or president. The Slovak Prime Minister added that he had faced "repeated concerted efforts" to disrupt his visit to the United States, just as it was during his visit to Russia for the Victory Day Parade on May 9, 2025.

On that day, Politico reported that Fico, after meeting with the US president, allegedly told European leaders that he was shocked by the mental and psychological state of the head of the White House. Five sources among European diplomats told the newspaper that Fico allegedly used the word "dangerous" when describing the US president.

On January 2, Trump announced that he had passed a medical examination and successfully passed a cognitive abilities test for the third time. He added that the White House doctors declared his "perfect health."
