The expert assessed the consequences of the fire at the automobile plant in Kaluga
By the end of December last year, the Tenet automobile brand reached the third place in car sales in Russia, but in 2026 the brand's position in the market may change due to a fire at a plant in Kaluga. This forecast was made by Sergey Tselikov, director of the analytical agency Autostat.
"The market structure is likely to change slightly in the coming months," the analyst commented on the incident in the Autostat Telegram chat.
Earlier that day, the main directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in the region reported that a fire had broken out at the site of the former Volkswagen plant in Kaluga. The fire occurred in the styrofoam recycling shop. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the fire area is 300 sq. m.
The AGR Holding automobile plant in Kaluga produces Tenet cars. The brand's lineup includes the compact crossover T4, the mid-size T7 and the flagship T8.
Representatives of Tenet announced on January 27 that production of the flagship T9 crossover will begin at the Kaluga plant in the first half of the year. Since entering the market in September and until the end of 2025, the new Russian car brand Tenet has sold 33.5 thousand cars and entered the top three of the country's car market by the end of the year.
