On January 27, the All-Russian action "Spark of Hope" took place in St. Petersburg, timed to coincide with the Day of the complete lifting of the siege of Leningrad.

The commemorative event began with a minute of silence in honor of the feat of the inhabitants of the besieged city. The action ended with the lighting of thousands of sparklers, symbolizing the memory and continuity of generations.

The participants were reminded of the first fireworks that took place on January 27, 1944, as well as the significance of the modern symbols of the action. During the event, all those present lit the lights to the sound of the Seventh Symphony ("Leningrad") Dmitry Shostakovich.

The vocal part of the program was presented by Margarita Adyasova. She sang the song "The Heart of Leningrad is beating".

On January 27, the Governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, congratulated the citizens on the 82nd anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi blockade, noting that this day symbolizes the triumph of the human spirit and the indomitable will of the people.

On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin laid flowers at the Rubezhny Kamen monument on Nevsky Prospekt. This place, from which Soviet troops repeatedly tried to break the siege of Leningrad, is one of the most heroic and tragic symbols of the battle for the city.
