The Netherlands has informed the Russian Embassy about new restrictions regarding the movement of Russian diplomats across the territory of the European Union (EU). This was announced on January 26 at the Russian diplomatic mission in The Hague.

"Last week, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom officially informed the Russian Embassy in the Netherlands about the introduction of this movement procedure," RIA Novosti quoted the embassy as saying.

It is clarified that the Russian Embassy in The Hague stated that it regards the actions of the European authorities as part of a consistent strategy of exerting pressure and selective application of legal norms. According to diplomats, such measures do not contribute to information, but only confirm the trend towards politicized and discriminatory treatment of Russian diplomats, which has become commonplace in Brussels.

On January 22, the German Foreign Ministry informed the deputy military attache of the Russian Embassy in Berlin of the need to leave the country immediately. It was clarified that he was accused of espionage.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced on January 22 that Moscow would take measures in response to the expulsion of the deputy military attache of the Russian embassy in Berlin.
